From Pizza to sushi, burgers to cake, nowadays people order pretty much all of their food online, but what are the most common takeaways? Well, "YouGov” conducted a study in 2021 asking this exact question with Britons giving some shocking answers.

25% of those surveyed said that Chinese food was their favourite, closely followed by 17% claiming that Indian food was their favourite. Surprisingly Fish and Chips are ranked the 3^rd most favourite with only 16% of those surveyed supporting it as their favourite. Shockingly Pizza was only voted for by 12%, which was the same as those who voted for Thai food (3%), Chicken (2%), Burgers (2%), Kebabs (3%), Sushi (1%) and "something else” (1%) all put together.

Chinese food had quite an even spread of demographic- with 29% of 25-49 year olds and 26% of 50-64 year old choosing it- but in Scotland it was a close 2^ndplace, With 25% of Scottish people choosing Indian takeaways to be their favourite over 24% choosing Chinese food. Indian takeaways weren’t as popular in the north of England with only 14% of Northern Britons choosing Indian food- However much like Chinese food, Indian food also had a pretty even spread of demographic with 20% of 18-24 and 50-64 year olds choosing it, and 16% of 25-49 and 65+ year olds choosing It.

Interestingly Pizza had the biggest difference in demographic with only 2% of those above 65 years of age and only 5% of 50-64 year olds choosing it as their favourite- as opposed to 23% of 18-24 year olds choosing Pizza as their top takeaway. It should be noted that Pizza was the favourite takeaway for those between the ages of 18-24, followed closely by Indian food with 20%.

Conversely, Fish and Chips was a popular choice among the older generation, with 28% of 65+ year olds and 20% of 50-64 year old choosing it to be their favourite in contrast to this, among the younger generation only 6% of 18-24 year olds chose Fish and Chips as their favourite.
